Thailand

Damien Drake - Project Superintendent, Jim Greany, William Johnson and Troy French, did a terrific job with the new antenna installation project at the Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. Although this was the third installation of its kind, this particular installation required the new antenna system to be mounted on a large structural steel platform; which was a first for these installations. Although the platform presented some unique challenges the crew completed the assembly and follow on construction work ahead of schedule.
Another great effort by the Greenway team; outstanding job!

Jim,
I wanted to share some of my observations with you from my recent trip to Bangkok to witness a portion of our installation.
From the start, the Greenway team on site was nothing short of professional, competent and well motivated.  The team worked long hours including weekends and holidays to complete the work on time and be completely prepared for the crane arrival to hoist the antenna platform.  They overcame several obstacles easily with no impact to the installation schedule and coordinated with post personnel to keep the job on track.  Damien ____  went well above his responsibility to appease a rather difficult person at post in order to complete the installation and not burden other team members with this problem.  The feedback from post personnel regarding the Greenway team was exceptional.

One senior engineer stated this is the best construction team he has ever seen at an embassy.  As the Government PM, I would welcome this greenway team on any of the ESS installations in the future.

The DPI and AT&T team arrived on site several days after my arrival and immediately began work.  Ivan (from DPI) was particularly impressive considering he arrived a day late due to circumstances beyond his control.  Upon his arrival he showed up to work with less than 4 hours sleep.  The entire installation team hit the ground running and began preparation work for the dish construction.  They required very little assistance from post personnel and were very self sufficient.  This trait is extremely welcome by post personnel who are often burdened by visitors who require constant attention.  All three team members from AT&T and DPI are valuable assets to the ESS program and I look forward to their continued involvement with this effort.

Thank you for a job well done.
